ABC Stampa, 2023

Curated by ABC members Louis Porter and George Gibson, ABC Stampa pays homage to Ulises Carrión’s collectively produced but unfinished Stampa Newspaper. As with Carrión’s original, artists were invited to contribute a design for a rubber stamp and to mark where on a sheet of newspaper paper they would like their stamp to be placed. As a result, two or more artists could request the same space, therefore inviting chance and coexistence to also be collaborators on the project.

Stampa is now part of the «쿵» (Thump) exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Busan, South Korea, from May 3, 2024, to December 29, 2024. The installation includes stamps from several Korean artists and has grown to feature contributions from 41 international artists.

ABC Office, 2023

ABC OFFICE was an installation by the Artists’ Books Cooperative (ABC) at Filet, London, between 27 – 30 April 2023, which provided an interactive exploration of office culture.

This anonymous work environment inviteds visitors to engage with artist-made pieces that reflect themes such as office conventions, bureaucracy, co-working, and print culture, often referred to as the ‘aesthetics of administration.’

The exhibition features a range of artworks, from paperweights to crushed filing cabinets. Visitors can interact with these pieces, enjoy a drink from the water cooler, practice their golf putt, or relax to ambient office sounds while sitting in a swivel chair.

The project kicked off with the Office Party on April 27, featuring boxed wine, pineapple, cheese, and party anthems.

Staff list: Arnaud Desjardin, Claudia de la Torre, Duncan Wooldridge, George Grace Gibson, John MacLean, Jonathan Lewis , Jonathan Schmidt-Ott, Louis Porter, MacDonaldStrand, Micheal O'Connell/MOCKSIM, Mishka Henner, Monika Orpik, Oliver Griffin, Rahel Zoller, Travis Shaffer and Wil van Iersel.

ABC Assembly, 2021

ABC Assembly is an experiment in collective book production conducted at the  Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center  - Ramallah, Palestine. Members of ABC, guest curator Alaa Mansour and invited artists  were asked to submit images and texts to a "manual of self-organisation” divided into six chapters decided by vote, after a web search for "tips on how to self-organise".

During the exhibition the chapters were  printed on an office printer installed in the gallery and operated remotely.  At the conclusion of the exhibition the pages were bound together and the project made available as a print-on-demand facsimile publication, available here.

The project was part of But These Forms Need to Be Created an “exhibition and an attempt to explore forms of self-organisation” curated by Adele Jarrar.

ABCOA, 2021

ABC Artists’ Books Cooperative invited interested and interesting friends, and even frienemies, to contribute to this superb project. Each participant supplied a Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) but with the CoA itself being the artefact. In other words, each document referenced itself. You are advised not to dwell on this conundrum for too long in the interests of your own mental health. Initiator: Micheál O'Connell.

60 loose sheets, A4, 80gsm, non-archival paper and not printed at full-bleed. (Note that ABCOA is produced and shipped in the low-tech spirit or the mail art tradition. The standard envelope may become marked or slightly tattered in transit, and that is seen as part of the project’s charm.)

Price incl. p&p: €40.00

ABC Days, 2020

At the invitation of Wil van Iersel, twenty-nine international artists each produced a book on a chosen day between June and July 2020. The theme and content of each book was open to each artist; be it a diary, a sketch book, a reflection on these strange times, work made during the lockdown, or a response to the Black Lives Matter demonstrations against police brutality and white privilege. The only condition was for the book to be uploaded to the web on the chosen day.

Twenty-nine digitally printed books, colour.
Each volume 17 x 24 cm / 48 - 64 pages.

Box set available in an edition of 29.

Edition of 29: US$600 / £440 / 500€
